Fire Escapes

State and local fire codes require certification of all fire escapes every five years. Fire escapes on building exteriors must be checked for rust and painted if needed, handrails must be checked for integrity, and loose bolts, grates and framework should be tightened, repaired or replaced. Confidence tests are conducted under the supervision of a licensed Washington State structural engineer, then signed, stamped and sent to the Seattle Fire Department.
